When an industry starts debating data, everybody wins

Recent discussions in the Hungarian hospitality industry have highlighted something positive: people are paying attention to the numbers behind the headlines.

Different stakeholders may interpret market trends differently, and that's perfectly normal. Industry associations, hotel operators, investors, and technology providers all see the market from different angles.

At SabeeApp, we contribute to these conversations through the lens of data. We don't claim to represent the entire market. We represent the data we see across our own client base, and we share insights based on those observations. Every day, we see booking patterns, occupancy trends, pricing movements, and distribution shifts across hundreds of accommodation providers. Our goal is not to decide who is right, but to add objective insights to the discussion.

This is not just a Hungarian story. Across the world, hospitality is facing increasingly complex questions about regulation, competition, sustainability, and growth. The best answers rarely come from a single perspective.

That's exactly why we are building this community. We encourage our members to challenge ideas, ask questions, share experiences, and contribute objective insights from their own operations. Many of the challenges discussed in the industry have practical implications for accommodation providers and technology partners alike, and understanding those realities helps everyone make better decisions.

Healthy debate is a sign of a healthy industry. So if a topic sparks questions or you have a different perspective, join the conversation. The more facts, experiences, and viewpoints we bring together, the stronger our industry becomes.

Digital tourism regulations across the world 🌍

Tourism regulations are becoming increasingly digital — and while new reporting obligations can feel frustrating at first, the bigger picture actually makes sense.

In recent years, many European countries have introduced mandatory digital tourism reporting systems, Turkey’s TGA integration is just one of the most recent examples of a much larger global trend.

When governments receive more accurate, real-time tourism data, they can make better decisions about where to invest:

• infrastructure development
• destination marketing
• sustainability projects
• transportation
• seasonal tourism management

In theory, better data should lead to better tourism strategies — which ultimately benefits accommodation providers too.

Of course, for hotels and property managers, every new regulation initially feels like “one more admin task”. That’s why automation matters so much.

From a PMS perspective, these developments are also becoming significantly more complex. Every country has different data structures, validation rules, deadlines, APIs, legal interpretations, and security expectations — and these systems are constantly evolving.

A good compliance integration is not simply a “connection”. It requires continuous maintenance, monitoring, legal understanding, and product development in the background so accommodation providers can focus on hospitality instead of administration.

The real goal is creating systems where compliance happens quietly and reliably in the background with the help of the right technology.

Do you agree?

Connection Sabee and AI Agent

We are currently exploring the possibility of connecting Sabee with an AI agent to automate certain tasks and workflows. However, the connection requires re-authentication with a new code every two weeks.

Is there a recommended long-term solution that avoids frequent manual code renewals?

Good morning, Stephanie Rank , Andre , Christian Rank ! I'm Karalina from MasterMind · Tech, SabeeApp partner. One of our products, AI Concierge, could be interesting for you based on the chat. In continuation I will share a quick overview, and in case you are interested in exploring more, feel free to reach out and we will be happy to help: Future Property Management Starts Here - MasterMind · Tech (or Select a Date & Time - Calendly). Have a great day!

AI Concierge (without recurring subscription fees) is designed to reduce the guest communication workload by providing automated 24/7 support for common guest interactions, operational messages and incident-related communication via phone call, SMS, WhatsApp.

It can help with:

Repetitive guest questions, Late-night or after-hours communication, Pre-arrival messages and instructions, During-stay guest support, Incident follow-up, Feedback collection, Reminders (pay deposit, fill-in check-in from among others), Multilingual communication, Inbound concierge requests, Configurable upselling or cross-selling opportunities.

The goal is not to replace hospitality, but to remove the repetitive pressure from your team so they can focus on the situations where a human response really matters.

AI Concierge is especially useful for operators who want faster guest communication without adding more night-shift staff, call-centre support or manual follow-up work.

we've also build quite a lot of automation - there is an API available which gives you some access to automate some work. maybe that can also help with some of what you are looking for

Security update from SabeeApp

We’re seeing new types of viruses (including trojans) targeting guest lists, part of a broader rise in phishing and data breaches across the hospitality industry.
The good news is that awareness and proactive steps make a real difference and that’s exactly where we’re focusing.
To better protect your data and your guests’ data, we’re working on additional safeguards:
• 2-Factor Authentication for guest list exports
• Masked guest emails (with reveal option)
Our goal: stronger protection without compromising usability.
How are you currently managing access to sensitive guest data at your property? Any best practices or concerns you’d like to share? 👇

What should this community actually be about?

Right now, most posts here are about product updates or feature requests. That’s useful — but probably not the only thing you’d want from this space.

For support you can contact us via tickets, here we’d like to give more value for you. So before we change anything, we want to understand what you would actually engage with.

We’ll use this to shape what gets posted here going forward.

Making Birthdays Great Again!

Hey there,

Recently, while we were discussing with our management team on how to provide a better customer experience to our guests, we realized that we are not utilizing (or under-utilizing) the birthdays of our guests.

Our idea was a way that SabeeApp notifies the user about who has a birthday on that day - so we can do something memorable for our guest.

However, Checking on SabeeApp, we couldn't see any type of reporting, or notification that is giving a heads up to the user about who has a birthday on that day.

It would be nice to have a way that SabeeApp notifies the user whenever someone logins as a pop-up, closable window which lists the guest room number, name, and how old they are now.

PS: Not sure how to directly create a ticket for feature improvement, so posting it here. I'd appreciate if someone pick this up, or point me in the right direction.

Much appreciated, and Eid Mubarak.

Kind regards,

Bora

Hi Bora,

Thanks for sharing this — and Eid Mubarak to you as well!

You’re absolutely right: using guest birthdays is a strong opportunity to create memorable experiences.

At the moment, while SabeeApp stores guest birthdates, there’s no built-in notification or report that highlights upcoming or same-day birthdays (e.g. a login pop-up with guest details).

That said, there are a couple of directions you can already explore:

  • If birthdate data is consistently captured, it can be accessed via exports or API and used for internal workflows (e.g. daily front desk checks or integrations).

  • Some properties handle this operationally by adding notes or tags to reservations for special occasions, although this is admittedly a manual workaround.

Your idea is clear and practical, especially for front desk teams. I’ll pass this on to our Product team. It would also help us prioritise this correctly — for others reading: hit 👍 if this would be useful in your daily operations.

For future feature requests, just submit a ticket to your dedicated Account Manager via e-mail (you can find contact details in your account) so we can track and link similar ideas.

Thanks again for raising this!

Best,
Szilvia

This Summer, Simplicity Wins

Recent tourism trends show a clear pattern: demand is stable in 2026, but guest behaviour is changing. Travellers are more careful, they compare more options, and they expect clear information before booking. At the same time, they are still willing to spend — but only when the value is obvious.

This means hotels need to focus less on attracting attention, and more on making decisions easy for the guest.

What to do to win them over? Here are our pro-tips in preparation for the summer season:

1. Show clear value
Guests compare more. They need to quickly understand what they get for the price.

💡 Use clear rate names, detailed descriptions, and highlight inclusions (breakfast, parking, extras). → This helps guests decide faster and reduces drop-off.

2. Minimise booking friction
If booking, modifying, or understanding your offer is difficult, guests leave.

💡 Set up automatic pre-arrival emails with key information (check-in, parking, local tips). → Fewer questions, smoother experience, less manual work.

3. Highlight your local advantage
Guests don’t just book a room — they book the experience around it.

💡 Optimise your content for AI searches and include all your values around your property.

Preparation for the summer starts now — set the basics right early, and you’ll see the results when demand comes. Good luck.

Cash handling insights with the new cash drawer

One of the most common sources of cash discrepancies in hotels is unclear ownership during shift changes.

A practical safeguard coming from users who moved to SabeeApp cash drawers from excel:

One drawer = one shift = one responsible person.
The drawer is opened with a counted starting balance, used only by that shift owner, and closed with a mandatory balance check before handover.

This rule not only eliminates shared responsibility and reduces investigation time, but also leads to faster audits and better protection for both employees and operators.

If you’re reviewing your front desk's cash process, this single structural rule usually creates the biggest improvement with the least friction. Explore the new Cash Drawer function and tell us what works best in your daily operations.
